Sonoran Concrete Coatings
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
01. Introduction
Your coated concrete floor is built to endure heavy traffic, resist chemicals, and provide long-term durability. To maintain its appearance and performance, routine care is essential. Use the guidelines below to keep your surface in great condition.
02. Routine Daily Maintenance
2.1 Dust and Debris Removal
Use a soft-bristle broom or a microfiber dust mop daily to sweep up dust, dirt, and small debris. This helps prevent fine particles from dulling or scratching the floor over time.
2.2 Spot Cleaning
Quickly wipe up any spills with a clean, soft cloth or paper towel. For tougher messes, a mix of mild soap and water works well. Products like Simple Green are effective and safe for coated surfaces.
03. Weekly Cleaning
3.1 Damp Mopping
Use a microfiber mop along with clean water and a pH-neutral floor cleaner to mop the surface. Harsh or abrasive cleaners should be avoided to prevent damage to the protective layer.
3.2 Rinsing
After using any cleaning solution, go over the floor with clean water to remove any leftover residue. Be sure not to oversaturate the floor—use only enough water to clean without puddling.
04. Deep Cleaning (As Needed)
4.1 More Intensive Cleaning
For deeper cleans, use a soft brush or a gentle-bristle floor scrubber. Avoid aggressive scrub brushes or pads that might scratch or wear down the coating.
05. What to Avoid
5.1 Abrasive Tools and Cleaners
Avoid steel wool, scouring pads, or any abrasive tools and cleaners. These can scratch or damage the surface coating.
5.2 Wax and Polish
Do not apply any floor wax or polish. The coating has a built-in shine that doesn’t require additional products, which may actually make the floor slippery or hazy.
5.3 Harsh Chemicals
Stay away from acidic or strong chemical cleaners like ammonia or bleach. These can erode the protective layer and dull the finish over time.
06. Long-Term Protection
6.1 Scratch Prevention
Use area rugs or mats in high-traffic areas to reduce surface wear. Install protective pads on the feet of furniture to prevent gouges or scratches.
6.2 Entryway Protection
Place mats at exterior doors to catch dirt and grit before it reaches your floor. This reduces long-term abrasion.
6.3 Climate Considerations
Avoid exposing the coated floor to extreme temperature changes. Keeping the area within a moderate temperature range helps prolong its lifespan.
07. Handling Spills and Stains
7.1 Oil Spills
Clean up oil spills promptly with a degreaser that’s safe for coated floors. For older or stubborn oil stains, gently scrub with a non-abrasive tool and approved cleaner.
7.2 Chemical Spills
If fuel, motor oil, or other chemicals are spilled, clean them up immediately using a cleaner that won’t damage the coating. Prompt action helps prevent staining or surface damage.
08. Additional Tips
Following these maintenance practices will help ensure your coated concrete floor stays in excellent shape for years. A little care goes a long way in preserving both the beauty and durability of your investment.
